Nduja.info was born in 2005 from an idea of Stefano Gorgoni, SEO and Italian gastronomy enthusiast. At the time, ‘nduja was still a little-known product outside Calabria: few had tasted it, even fewer knew what it really was.
I was starting with my partner (from Calabria) a business selling typical products from Southern Italy, and the e-commerce site, Inari.it, had ‘ nduja as its spearhead. At the ‘beginning of my career as an SEO, I thought that creating a site entirely dedicated to this salami could help make it known and, at the same time, increase the visibility of our e-commerce.
It was a targeted SEO tactic: the first and practically only experiment of this kind that I carried out at the time, precisely because ‘ nduja was our flagship product and deserved special ‘ attention.
With today’s eyes, the site was not as complete as I would have liked – which is why I recently completely rewrote its contents – but in 2005 it was a mine of information on the subject. So much so that it was cited as a source in Wikipedia’s bibliography (the link has since been replaced by more up-to-date sources) and received accolades that still make me proud today.
Among the most prestigious mentions is that of the British newspaper The Guardian, which in 2020 included Nduja.info in an article devoted to the choice of pasta shapes and ideal toppings.
After Inari closed, I pursued my SEO career in other areas, working on very different projects. But ‘nduja – and good food more generally – has remained a great passion of mine. This site is one of the ways I continue to cultivate and share it, keeping alive a link to that first project that marked my path.
Today, Nduja.info has become what it should have been from the beginning: a comprehensive and authoritative guide to one of Calabria’s most iconic products, designed for those who want to know its history, production secrets and the best ways to enjoy it.
